Technical ADVICES PDF Print

BASIC ADVICES

Before you go

  • Watch out the different fluids levels (cooling, oil, brake), check for any leakage. Consider taking some extra oil if you know that your engine eat some

  • Watch out tyres wearing

  • Keep an eye on your brake pads wear (consider taking one spare set with you!)

When on site

  • To avoid "buckling" your discs, tight your wheel nuts to the recomended torque, with a torque wrench (available on site on demande)

  • Don't be warmer than your tyres!
  • Check frequently your tyres' pressure, even when hot, after a run (it's normal that a hot tyre has his pressure ~400gr higher than at cold). There will be on site and on demand a compressor and some pressure gauges. Don't hesitate to play with small front/aft pressure differences to adjust the under- / oversteering behaviour of your car.

  • Track driving means in general higher engine revs than during normal driving, and then a higher oil consumption than usually. If your engine eats some oil, watch out the level regularly and adjust it if necessary.

  • In case you make an off and end up in a gravel trap, go back into the stands as soon as possible and clean the car: gravels inside the engine bay can cause serious damages when the engine is running / the car moving!

  • Who wants to go far takes care of his mount: take the time to make some warm up laps as well as some cool down laps for each runs, especially on a track like abbeville, which is rather "sprint-like". Keep also in mind that your car will most probably have to bring you back at home after the event before any eventual machanics on it!
